The Gizra Way, or How I Learned to be a Better Client

Much has made about the “Gizra Way” - mostly by the good folks at Gizra who are so excited that they can’t stop talking about it. You can read about it or watch Amitai’s presentation about it at DrupalCon Austin. There is a lot that any development team – from a small shop to enterprise-level operation – could learn and adapt from the tools that Gizra applies to project management and code development.

My perspective to this is unique, as before I joined the team I had the opportunity to see it in action as a client. Following the Gizra Way, I came across not only some great project management tools, but also learned some ways in which I could be be a smarter, savvier, and yes, a better client.

Through adopting some of these unique strategies, I learned things like: how to understand what takes time on a project and what does not; how to propose and collaborate on solutions rather than just identify and flag problems; and how to save my organization money and time by working on the team instead of being a liaison to it. I will walk through elements of three projects (birthrightisraelfellows.com, jewishmomentsproject.org, and theicenter.org) as case studies for understanding how these tools could apply to your work.

This session is for clients, development teams, and project managers who want to rethink the way in which they understand their relationship.
