What is a worker cooperative: Worker cooperatives are businesses owned and controlled by the people who work in them, the cooperative members. They are a time-tested way to create quality jobs, and are gaining momentum as a strategy to build and anchor wealth in communities.
As FreeScholar, I am a worker/owner of Agaric, a cooperative of Developers. Bringing new members to the Drupal community is one of our favorite things to do. I also love building sites that can be useful to Drupal developers and beginners.
As members of the USFWC (US Federation of Worker Cooperatives), Agaric is a group of worker/owners from around the globe, that work collectively on projects. After attending the Worker National Cooperative Conference in Chicago http://conference.coop, with over 400 representatives of US cooperatives, I started to present and discuss the options for cooperatives and collectives within technology. Developers cooperatives are an interesting and rewarding challenge! There is a revolution around you that will empower you and support you in building cooperative business structures, let's plug-in.
This session will include discussion and relevant details on how to use Drupal and free software as a major part of creating opportunities for individuals and under-served communities around the world. We will explore topics about creating value, intrinsically, locally and globally.
